Pushcart Prize and The Best American Essay nominated
In the late 1990’s Kathleen and her Irish chef husband lived with their two toddlers in a small fishing village in remote West Cork, Ireland, where they opened a fine dining restaurant. Pipes burst, napkins caught fire, and storms blew in off the Atlantic knocking out the electricity during service. But blackberries grew wild in their back yard, roses bloomed in winter, and although they were often short on sleep and money, they never went without good food or good company.
The National League of American Pen Women’s Keats Literary Award
During their first year the restaurant was mentioned on Ireland’s version of The Tonight Show and awarded a place in the premier national food guide, The Tipperary Water Guide Ireland. In their third year The Bridgestone Irish Food Guide honored them with a coveted “Best in Ireland” award plaque.
Kathleen now lives and works in New England and France. Where she teaches, edits and writes about women, food, religion, mythology and travel.
